Uretek's
patented ground improvement techniques are used worldwide
to quickly compress or recompress soil.
Uretek applies
its Deep Injection and Powerpile technologies to improve
the bearing capacity of soils which underlie permanent way.
The Uretek Method
is fast and can be applied while rail traffic is on the
move, ensuring no downtime. In many cases, jobs that take
weeks using other methods can be completed using the Uretek
Method in just hours.
Our work is completed
under the guidance of a Geotechnical Engineer under conditions
of full International Quality Assurance.
Uretek relevels trackwork and rail
bridges. Piers can be re-substantiated, and all this can
be done between train operations.
Uretek can work
during down times and in confined spaces. Our equipment
is portable, so where there are no roads, our workshop can
be mounted on a flat wagon and taken by train to the worksite.
Embedded
Rail.
Embedded rail is very diffucult to
re-level, whether it be found in level crossings, tramways
or on docks.
Uretek solves the problem fast.
Our expanding resins are injected
under the track base, stabising and strengthening soil,
and lifting track back to level.
All this is done while rail and vehicular
traffic continues to operate through the worksite.
Re-level
Track & Small Bridges.
Bridges with non-piled footings which fall out of level
due to soil weakness, respond quickly to the Uretek Method.
Locations which would be difficult
to reach by road are no problem for Uretek- we load our
fully integrated workshop onto a container wagon and train
it to the site!
The bridge at left was re-leveled
in just two days, and rail traffic flow was not interputed.
Our work resulted in the local rail speed limit being raised
from 20 KPH to 100 KPH.

Uretek - The Box Section and Viaduct
Specialists.
Re-levelling Box Sections.
Box sections sink because the ground underneath
is not strong enough to hold them. Sometimes the
ground’s bearing pressure was never calculated correctly,
sometimes the nature of the ground changes due to
water incursion, and sometimes more weight is placed
on the culvert than engineers originally calculated.
Whatever the cause, Uretek’s patented system regularly
lifts culverts into place after improving bearing
pressures sometimes by 400 or even 500%! N values
are up, bearing pressure is up, the culvert is no
longer down!
The Uretek Method can even help when a culvert
has dropped as far as the culverts at right. Even
a drop of 300mm is no problem for Uretek!
Undersealing
Box Sections.
Above:
This culvert has been undermined by water and is in
danger of being washed away in a flash flood.
Above:
Uretek underseals culverts and ensures that water
fows through the culvert - not under it.
Correcting
Bridge Piers.
This bridge on the main Sydney - Melbourne railway line
had a pier that was loose. The steel beams sitting on
the pier were in danger of fracturing.
Uretek was able to strengthen
the soil under the pier and lift the pier back into
place.
In fact Uretek is so strong, we
were able to not just lift the pier, but in tests conducted
after, Uretek lifted the pier, bridge and a 110 tonne
loco 9mm!
Platform
re-levelling
Railway platforms that are out of level
present trip hazards to clients, can result in people falling
on to tracks and jostle goods and people.
Uretek re-levels platforms, such as this one in Cloncurry
Qld, to provide greater comfort and safety, and to help
ensure that goods arrive in pristine condition.
Uretek - Fast Soil Compaction
in Confined Spaces
Because Uretek's workshop is so
portable, Uretek works just as easily in tunnels and pipes
as it does in the open.
And, as with all Uretek work, even
in these difficult locations, we are able to do our work
with a minimum of interference to operations.
Uretek
is used by railway authorities around the world to:
Lift
track & re-align quickly
Re-support
or strengthen embankments.
Re-level
small bridges, culverts and box sections

Re-align level crossings & embedded track

Modern
railways which are unballasted generally are placed on concrete
plinths. And like other in-situ concrete such as concrete
roads and airport taxiways, such plinths can be re-leveled
using Uretek.
Depending
on the soil conditions, often the plinth requires little
more than undersealing to be lifted back into place. However
should soils at deeper levels prove to be unsupportive,
then Uretek's "Deep Injection" process can be employed to
strenghten the soil and lift the plinth back into place.
In
the most difficult of situations, or in the construction
of new railways though very unsupportive soils, Uretek's
Powerpiles can be employed to improve soil bearing capacity
significantly.
And
remember - no matter which Uretek system you use, Uretek
will get you back on track quicker!
Uretek
is fast, efficient, and we keep trains rolling.
